When tragedy strikes a local hero organization, communities rally, and that is exactly what happened in Lancaster County.

After a heartbreaking theft in June left the Christiana Volunteer Fire Company without its lifesaving “Jaws of Life” rescue tools, Pennsylvania Skill, along with Shay’s Vending and Capital Vending, stepped in to help make things right.

At the event, representatives from Pennsylvania Skill’s Charitable Giving Program presented the Christiana Volunteer Fire Company with a $19,000 donation to install a new security system that will protect their equipment and facility for years to come.

“Without this donation, we would have had to raise the money through 21 cash bingos or 17 chicken barbecues,” shared Mike Ross, president of the Christiana Fire Company. “This support means we can focus on what matters most, serving our neighbors and responding to emergencies.”

For small volunteer departments like Christiana, every dollar counts. Balancing fundraising events with training, emergency response, and community outreach is a full-time effort. That is why Pennsylvania Skill’s Charitable Giving Program is dedicated to supporting first responders, veterans, and local organizations that keep Pennsylvania communities strong.

This donation does more than cover a new security system. It represents trust, partnership, and a shared commitment to keeping communities safe.

Ross also shared an important reminder during his remarks:

“When you support skill games, you are also supporting emergency services like ours. Every contribution has a ripple effect in communities like Christiana.”

The Pennsylvania Skill Charitable Giving Program continues to stand with organizations that make a real difference across the Commonwealth. Whether it is helping a volunteer fire department recover from theft or funding new equipment for youth programs, every act of giving reflects one goal: building a safer and stronger Pennsylvania for everyone.
