Firefighters train for emergencies they hope their neighbors never have to face.
When those emergencies do happen, the right rescue equipment can help firefighters respond safely and effectively.
Pennsylvania Skill Charitable Giving recently supported Marysville Fire Company No. 1 with a grant that helped the department purchase new rescue equipment.
The fire company used the funding to purchase a vehicle rescue tie-back kit and a two-piece Stokes rescue basket.
Both tools can play an important role during challenging rescue situations.
Preparing for Vehicle Rescues
Vehicle crashes can create dangerous and unpredictable conditions for first responders.
A damaged or overturned vehicle may need to be secured before firefighters can safely work around it. Marysville Fire Company’s new tie-back kit gives its members another tool to use during vehicle rescue operations.

That training is important.
Firefighters need to know how to use their equipment before a real emergency happens. Hands-on practice gives them the chance to build those skills in a controlled setting.
The department also purchased a two-piece Stokes rescue basket.
Rescue baskets can be used to help move patients during situations where a standard stretcher may not be practical. The new equipment gives the department another resource when responding to difficult rescue calls.
Putting the Grant to Work
Marysville Fire Company was excited to share that all of the equipment purchased through the grant had arrived.
